Leave No Trace

Leave No Trace

Leave No Trace is a set of principles that are designed to help people enjoy the outdoors while minimizing their impact on the environment. These principles are:
Plan ahead and prepare: Before you go out, research the area you’ll be visiting and plan accordingly.
Bring appropriate gear and supplies and anticipate the weather conditions and potential hazards.
Travel and camp on durable surfaces: Stick to established trails and campsites and avoid damaging vegetation or disturbing wildlife.
Choose rock, gravel, sand, or snow as a camping spot to minimize your impact.
Dispose of waste properly: Pack out all trash, leftover food, and litter. Leave nothing behind except footprints.
Leave what you find: Don’t disturb or take anything from the natural environment, including plants, rocks, and artifacts.
Minimize campfire impact: Use established fire rings, keep fires small, and use only dead and downed wood. Put out fires completely and scatter the ashes.
Respect wildlife: Observe animals from a distance and do not feed them.
You should store food and garbage in animal-resistant containers to avoid attracting wildlife.
Be considerate of other visitors: Keep noise levels down, respect other people’s privacy, and follow any posted rules and regulations.
Do not enter anyone campsite unless you are invited.
By following these principles, we can all do our part to preserve the beauty and integrity of the natural world, ensuring that future generations will be able to enjoy it as well.
